What a tech pack is
A tech pack is the specification document a factory uses to quote and produce a garment. It combines technical flats, a graded measurement chart with tolerances, a bill of materials, construction and stitching notes, trims, labeling, and packaging instructions into one reference the factory works from start to finish.
Generating a tech pack in Niche Studio
- Open Tech Packs and generate from a finished, fitted design — flats and base measurements populate automatically from the design tree and pattern.
- Fill the bill of materials: main fabric, lining or rib, thread, labels, and hardware, each with supplier and consumption where known.
- Attach the graded measurement chart with tolerances (commonly ±1 cm on body measurements).
- Add construction notes for anything a flat drawing can't show: stitch type, topstitch width, seam finish.
- Export the PDF bundle for distribution to manufacturers.
Common tech pack mistakes
